Carthage Imprint Seeding Project
The Carthage Imprint Seeding Project is located between eight and eleven miles east of San Antonio in Socorro County, New Mexico. The project area encompassed unplatted public and private land in Sections 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17, T.5S., R.2W.
The project involved imprint seeding at several abandoned coal mine sites, where gob piles were graded, covered with soil, and seeded in 1997 and 1999. Temporary access roads were decompacted and seeded as required. Seeding by hand and drill seeding have been largely unsuccessful at these sites.
