La Ventana Maintenance Project
The Abandoned Mine Land Program (AMLP) safeguarded one coal mine subsidence feature located near La Ventana, south of Cuba, in Valencia County, New Mexico. The project area is located on the USGS San Pablo quadrange. Due to the hazards associated with abandoned mines, AML proposes to close this subsidence to enhance overall public safety.
The project involved the following work:
- Removing material and backfilling one mine feature
- Site Grading and Extreme Roughening
- Seeding of all areas disturbed by construction.
