The Lake Valley Mine Phase I, II, IV Maintenance Project is located around the ghost town of Lake Valley, 17 miles south of the town of Hillsboro, Sierra County.

This project involves the following work:

• Fabricate and Install a Tumbleweed Gate: The Contractor shall construct and install one Tumbleweed gate over the corrugated steel pipe opening in accordance with the designs and specifications shown in Figures 2 - 7. Please refer to attached Metal Specifications. Most welding should be done in a workshop, if the contractor elects to fabricate in the field then a field certified welder will be required.
• Construct Hinged Hatch Modifying Existing Cupola Hatch over Mine Shaft: The Contractor shall construct and install one hinged hatch over the mine shaft in accordance with the designs and specifications shown in Figure 12. Please refer to attached Metal Specifications. Most welding should be done in a workshop; if the contractor elects to fabricate in the field then a field-certified welder will be required.
• Modify Four Existing Bat Cupolas and 10 Existing Removable Hatches: The Contractor shall install tubular steel, 4" x 2" x approximately 5" sections, on four cupolas and 38 pipe sleeves on 10 removable hatches in accordance with the designs and specifications shown in Figures 8-12. Please refer to attached Metal Specifications.
• Safety: The Contractor shall follow appropriate hazardous fall protection procedures. This includes
  proper lighting, barricades, fences, personal fall arrest systems, guardrails, covers, safety net systems, safety monitoring systems, and other protection as suitable for the conditions. Fall protection shall be in accordance with OSHA regulations regarding fall protection and requires employers to provide safety training for each employee who might be exposed to a fall hazard.
• Contractor must have a current and appropriate Contractors License with the State of New Mexico and provide proof of current liability insurance.
