GIS, Maps and Mine Data

Our Division uses a Geographic Information System (GIS).  This is a computer system that can capture, store, analyze and display geographically referenced (location) information.   The power of this system is the ability to draw conclusions about relationships between data that have a spatial component.  GIS provides a method of displaying accurate mapping and database information to the staff and public.

The USGS provides detailed information about GIS.
