Mineral Education and Mining Reclamation Award Nominations

The Interstate Mining Compact Commission (IMCC) has sponsored awards for the recognition of outstanding mining reclamation for twenty years. Both coal and non-coal operations are eligible for nomination for the IMCC Annual Reclamation Awards.

Each year the IMCC also recognizes the effort of those who educate others about the use of minerals and issues associated with mining, particularly from an environmental perspective, and those who have undertaken special outreach programs to inform the public about mining. Two Mineral Education Awards are sponsored: the Mining Awareness Educator Award and the Public Outreach Award.

Award descriptions, instructions and previous year applications are found below. The deadline for submittal of the reclamation award nominations to the Mining and Minerals Division is January 15. The deadline for submittal of education award nominations to the Interstate Mining Compact Commission is February 1.

Awards will be presented at the awards banquet during the IMCC Annual Meeting in April.
