Mines, Mills and Quarries in New Mexico  

A web-based directory and map of active mining, milling and smelting operations in New Mexico. Provides mine name, commodity, type of operation/facility, operator contact information, mineral estate ownership and locational data for all registered mining operations.  Data in the map is dynamically pulled from MMD's database. The map features selectable layers with population, transportation, hydrology, surface and mineral ownership and mining district data.

New Mexico's Mineral Industry  

An annual overview of the extractive mineral industry. MMD develops the article for inclusion in the Annual Review issue of Mining Engineering, the monthly publication of the Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME).

     
Permit Requirements for Energy and Mineral Projects in New Mexico  

Summarizes permits issued by the State of New Mexico that are required for energy and mineral resource exploration, development, production and reclamation in New Mexico. The guidebook includes regulatory agency contact information for the state agencies that have jurisdiction over permits, licenses and approvals. In addition, federal permit requirements and permits on Indian lands are briefly discussed. The publication is intended not only for private developers and interest groups, but also for regulatory officials of federal, state and local governments.

     
Mining Act Reclamation Program Annual Report  

General description of mining operations, reclamation practices and production figures associated with the mining operations regulated by the New Mexico Mining Act. Tables identifying all mining operations that have obtained a general, exploration or mining permit under the Mining Act Reclamation Program since its inception in 1994 are included in the appendices. The report also includes any proposed amendments to the Mining Act Rules.

     
Citizen's Guide to Coal Mine Blasting in New Mexico  

Blasting regulation for coal mines on non-Indian lands in New Mexico. These regulations (State of New Mexico Surface Coal Mining Regulations 19 NMAC 8.2) include substantial requirements and limitations regarding blasting.

Historical Publications  

Nuevas Leyes de Las Minas de Espana: 1625 Edicion de Juan de Onate (with Introduction in English) was published to commemorate the IV International Mining History Congress at the Facultad de Minas, Universidad de Guanajuato, November 1998.

Plants for Western Land Reclamation, 1994 Edition, assists people involved in the revegetation aspect of disturbed land reclamation. It contains information regarding vegetative characteristics that describe grass, forb, shrub and trees.
