Operating a Boat for Hire
Operators intending on carrying passengers for hire such as fishing guides, cruise operators......
You must have a specific license called an Operator of an Un-inspected Passenger Vessel issued by the U.S.Coast Guard when operating on New Mexico State Park Lakes.
This license qualifies you to carry six or fewer passengers for hire. It is commonly referred to as a "6-Pack or "Captain's License" and documents your water experience and requires drug testing, health exam, and passing of a multi-hour test.
New Mexico State Parks also requires such operations to have a concession permit.
In addition, your vessel may have to be documented by the US Coast Guard if it is being used on lakes considered Federal or Navigatable Waters (Navajo Lake only). It also requires meeting enhanced safety standards.
