The New Mexico State Parks Division in partnership with the Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails proudly announces the Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend taking place September 12-13, 2020. The weekend is part of a nationwide initiative to encourage Girl Scouts and their families to participate in outdoor activities available in State Parks.

Thirty-three State Parks will be open for day-use access this weekend. In addition, multiple virtual interactive educational programs for girls and families will be available.

Cerrillos Hills State Park


Join Alana as she visits Cerrillos Hills State Park on horseback! Learn about the rich history of the hills, explore the hiking trails and get to know the tarantulas that live at the park! This park is located off of the Turquoise Trail, just minutes away from Santa Fe!

Rio Grande Nature Center


The Rio Grande Nature Center State Park is located in the heart of Albuquerque. Join Laila as she takes a nature walk through the bosque, enjoys birdwatching and takes a glimpse of butterflies near the pond. At this park, you may even find a turtle or two as they bask in the sun!

How to Earn Your Patch!


Now here's the important part - how to earn your patch! The weekend of Girl Scouts Love State Parks, pack up a lunch and your family to head out to one of the 33 State Parks located in New Mexico. Make your own sign, use the coloring page we'll send with the confirmation or participate in an outdoor activity, and take a picture in the State Park that you choose. Send that photo to customercare@nmgirlscouts.org (ATTN: Charli).
